Vijima has challenged in the High Court the Governor’s order of premature release of Udaybhan Karvariya, who was found guilty of killing her husband Jawahar Yadav alias Jawahar Pandit and four others in broad daylight. On 13 August 1996, former SP MLA Jawahar Yadav alias Jawahar Pandit and his three companions were brutally murdered in broad daylight in Civil Lines by firing bullets from AK 47.

On the complaint of Jawahar Pandit’s brother Sulaki Yadav, Udaybhan Karvariya, former BSP MP Kapilmuni Karvariya, Shyam Narayan Karvariya and Ramchandra Tripathi were accused of this murder. The verdict came on November 4, 2019. All four convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour and a fine of Rs 7.20 lakh. Since then, the Karvariya brothers were behind bars. However, Udaybhan had also come out on parole once. But, after completion of the time, he had to go to jail again.
